John Byrne

President

John Byrne and his father Blake Byrne founded Byrne Media in June of 2006. John had spent 16 years in Broadcast sales starting in Columbia SC at WACH-TV Fox 57 beginning in June of 1990. He then moved to Charlotte in 1994 to become a regional account manager at Katz Television, a national rep firm. In 1998 he was promoted to Manager of the Charlotte Katz office until he left in 2002. WHHI TV became available in 2006 and John and his father formed Byrne Media to purchase WHHI as the new building block for the company. In the past 17 years, John and the Byrne Media Team have grown into a 14 station cluster with properties in Myrtle Beach (WTKN FM and WEZV-FM), Greenville-Spartanburg (WCCP-FM and WAHT-AM), Roanoke Rapids NC with 7 FM's, and Madison Wisconsin (WIFS-TV). Byrne Media has grown into a solid regional media company with a focus on North and South Carolina. John attended and Graduated from Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, VA in 1985, and then from the University of South Carolina in 1989 with a Bachelors Degree in International Studies. John and his wife Charlotte live in Charlotte with their 2 sons, John Morris and James.

Wayne Morris

Wayne Morris has been a part of Byrne Media since the company's inception in June of 2006. Before joining Byrne, he worked for Raycom Media in Columbia, SC. Wayne received a Marketing Degree from Clemson University in 2004. Wayne currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for Byrne Media as well as General Manager for WHHI-TV. He is married to Ashley Morris and has 3 children: Sophie, Steven, and Sarah.

Zach Washburn

Director of Business Development

Zach Washburn joined Byrne Media in 2020 as the company's Director of Business Development. Native to Greenville, SC & Clemson Alum, Zach's experience in working with local & regional businesses across in the Carolinas has led him to become a strategic fit for the growth of Byrne Media. Zach has held positions with local ABC & FOX TV affiliates between the Upstate and Low Country, and most recently with Clemson's multimedia rights holder, JMI Sports. Zach also serves as head of Byrne Media's digital marketing platform. He is married to Caroline Washburn & resides in Greenville, SC with their yellow lab, Sunday.

John Henis

General Manager, The Roar

John Henis joined Byrne Media in 2016 as General Manager for the Myrtle Beach group of stations. Starting his radio career in Myrtle Beach in 1993; John went on to work in Miami, Philadelphia, New York, Columbia Missouri, as well as the Upstate, Midlands and Coastal regions of South Carolina.
When not living the radio dream, John enjoys competing in Ironman Triathlon, 100-mile ultra-running events, mountain biking, working around the house and spending time with his new granddaughter.
John is married to Debbie Henis and has two grown children: Danielle & Dawson

Heather Abbott

General Manager, Roanoke Rapids

Heather Abbott joined Byrne Media as the General Manager for the Roanoke Rapids group of stations in September 2022. In February 2023, she transitioned into the role as General Manager.
Prior to starting a career in radio, she served as the Regional Marketing Director for a multimedia company where she oversaw advertising sales and publishing of several different specialty publications in North Carolina and Virginia.
Heather has served on the Board of Directors for the Lake Gaston Chamber of Commerce for the past 3 years.
Heather and her husband Rob live in Norlina, NC and enjoy spending time with their 5 grandchildren Baylee, Jackson, Hunter, Brooks and Banks. When not on the golf course, Heather spends her spare time camping, gardening and riding four-wheelers with her husband and friends.

Jessa Jeremiah

General Manager, WHHI-TV

Jessa Jeremiah first joined WHHI-TV as an on-air personality in 2012 anchoring one of the station's first newscasts. From there, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin and helped grow the Byrne Group's new CW57 station as Account Executive and On-Air Personality. As the station transitioned to "Wisconsin's 57 Television", she was promoted to General Manager. After working for another Madison-based station for several years, she has returned to her work family at Byrne Media as General Manager of WHHI Television and joyfully returns with her husband to the Lowcountry to raise her two daughters, Primlee and Paislee.
